Yesterday I watched my daughter, Julia, cross the stage and graduate (with honours) from Algonquin College. Her area of study was Public Relations and she certainly chose well. To say I am proud is an understatement. Julia went public this year with the story of her mental health struggles in a big way. She spoke at The Royal's "Leaders for Mental Health Breakfast" and her story has been shared through a number of campaigns. It takes a lot of courage to share these things publicly, let alone when trying to complete major projects at school. And now my daughter has reached a significant milestone and has done so with the support of many but mostly, as it is with these things, through her own resilience, determination, and commitment to herself.
